Christmas Trivia In the original Dutch based legend of Sinterklaas the jolly one was reported to travel on a flying horse-drawn wagon. On Christmas Eve in 1822, Clement Clarke Moore, a professor who wrote poetry as a hobby, recited a poem to his four children which would forever change the vision of Santa Claus all over the world. "The Night Before Christmas" introduced us to the eight tiny reindeer that are still known today by the names Moore gave them in 1822.
